Chicken Tikka Masala Recipe is a popular Indian dish made with chicken marinated in yogurt and spices, then cooked in a creamy tomato sauce. It is a delicious and easy dish to make and is perfect for beginners.
Ingredients:
1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes1/2 cup yogurt
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon garam masala
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon coriander powder
1/4 teaspoon cumin powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon ginger, minced
1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained
1/2 cup chicken broth
1/2 cup heavy cream
Cilantro leaves, for garnish
Instructions:
In a large bowl, combine the chicken, yogurt, lemon juice, garam masala, turmeric powder, chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well and marinate for at least 30 minutes, or up to overnight.Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook for 5-7 minutes, or until browned on all sides.
Add the onion, garlic, and ginger to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until softened.
Add the diced tomatoes and chicken broth to the skillet and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through.
Stir in the heavy cream and cook until heated through.
Serve hot, garnished with cilantro leaves.
Tips:
For a richer flavor, you can marinate the chicken in a mixture of yogurt, lemon juice, and spices for up to 24 hours.If you want a spicier chicken tikka masala, you can add more chili powder or cayenne pepper.
To make the chicken tikka masala ahead of time, cook the chicken and sauce according to the instructions above. Let the chicken and sauce cool completely, then store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. When ready to serve, reheat the chicken and sauce until heated through.
